Do you long for greater balance and joy in your life? Are you:

  • stuck in a frustrating cycle of negative thoughts or emotions?

  • making choices that aren’t fully and holistically serving your needs?

  • struggling with your body image or the progression of your career?

  • navigating infertility issues or the challenges of motherhood?

Perhaps you’re experiencing hormonal concerns that are impacting your mental health or the roles you play in relationships or society. Or maybe you’re hoping that therapy for women can help you discover a true sense of identity independent of everything else you have going on.

For Most Women, Each Day Is Filled To The Brim With Responsibility

You’re constantly going: taking kids to school, arriving late to work, having to leave early to pick up a sick child, and returning calls to aging parents you help care for. You worry about what’s for dinner, grab groceries, and maybe run another errand.

Afterward, you head home to make supper at seven in the evening, help with homework, say hello to your partner, put the kids to bed, and then work for another three hours till midnight on a proposal due for your job. Then, it’s rinse and repeat...

At the end of the day, spending time caring for yourself may seem impossible, but there is a place where you can find relief. Therapy for women at Bozeman Counseling Center can help you learn how to communicate your needs, connect with your authentic self, and cultivate a greater sense of balance and joy in your life.

Women Are Under More Pressure Than Any Other Time In History

A woman looking up in a forest

We’re part of a culture that tells women they can be anything they want career-wise and still be fulfilled as parents, friends, and partners. However, the reality is that many of us are not getting adequate sleep; we’re stressed out; and we often feel inadequate and unworthy.

Many of us have to balance full-time careers with caring for aging parents, raising children, and taking on a majority of the household tasks. If we struggle with fertility issues, we feel like a failure for not conceiving. But if we choose not to become parents, we get shamed or warned of "growing old alone” by friends and family.

Nobody Can Do It All, Not Even A “Superwoman”

As women, we’re encouraged and taught to be superwomen who can do it all—excelling at work, being a super-mom, and showing up in relationships—all while making it look effortless. Though it seems ideal, that expectation of perfection is ultimately unrealistic and unhealthy for women and mothers.

It leaves very little time for women to practice self-care, which means they’re usually at their breaking point by the time they consider counseling. Plus, many women struggling with fertility issues, postpartum depression, or perimenopausal anxiety don’t even realize that therapy can actually help them manage overwhelming emotions and symptoms. So, they end up suffering alone in silence.

However, therapy for women offers you a chance to slow down, step back, and breathe. In those moments, you can let go of some of the pressure weighing you down and find unbiased support for making the changes you want to see in your life.

Therapy For Women Is About You—And Only You

Oftentimes, women feel like they don't know who they are in their own story, many of them struggling simultaneously with imposter syndrome, low self-esteem, and poor work-life balance. That’s why, at Bozeman Counseling Center, we help women discover who they want to be while healing their wounded parts and empowering them to live more authentically.

We use a holistic, evidence-based approach to therapy for women that looks at the whole person, taking into account various aspects of your emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual health. From work and finances to issues with parenting, romance, and friendships, counseling for women can help you find balance in all areas of your life.

What Does Therapy For Women Entail In Sessions?

The first thing we’ll do is offer you a nonjudgmental and validating environment where your experiences, feelings, and concerns are acknowledged and affirmed. This validation can help you feel heard, understood, and empowered to take on whatever it is you bring into sessions.

Our trauma-informed therapists for women also provide validation and emotional support for navigating painful life circumstances, such as trauma, abuse, mental health issues, or relationship difficulties. We can explore sensitive reproductive challenges, body image concerns, or aging-related issues. All the while, we’ll walk alongside you offering empathy, compassion, and encouragement so you never feel alone in your journey.

How Do We Approach Therapy For Women?

Our therapists at Bozeman Counseling Center take an eclectic, person-centered approach to working with women. We are solutions-focused in that we help women overcome challenges and make specific changes. However, we’re also a holistic practice that looks at all domains of a client’s life to help her find balance and improve mental wellness.

To achieve these goals, we draw from a range of therapeutic interventions:

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) allows us to identify “parts” of the self, like the perfectionist or controller/managers, that are tired and need a break so that the authentic self can run the show.

  • Somatic Therapy helps to address some of the bodily discomfort (e.g., stomach butterflies, muscle tension, headaches, etc.) caused by stress, anxiety, low self-esteem, and trauma.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) targets the negative thoughts, feelings, and beliefs about the self that make it difficult for women to assert their needs, set boundaries, and recognize their own worth.

Boundaries tend to be an important part of counseling with our female clients. So we often focus on understanding the importance of setting healthy boundaries at work, with children, and in romantic relationships. We offer resources and science-backed tools for coping with stress, managing emotions, communicating effectively, and navigating life’s curveballs.

We also transcend traditional talk therapy by including coaching in our sessions to help women get clear on their values and what they want their life to look like. Then, we help our clients set measurable and attainable goals that they can feel proud of achieving.

Therapy Is The Talking Cure

Our women’s therapists at Bozeman Counseling Center offer you a space where you can finally feel supported, understood, and validated. At the same time, you can experience a corrective emotional experience that can't be found by talking with friends and family.

We’ll help you heal your wounded parts, find solutions to problems, and develop a stronger sense of empowerment that allows you to discover your authentic self and live with greater joy and balance.

Do You Still Have Questions Or Concerns About Therapy For Women?

Can therapy really help with my reproductive concerns?

Therapy can absolutely help with the emotional and mental aspects of any reproductive concern. From a holistic perspective, the mind and body are connected, so many clients feel physical relief from counseling as well. Counseling for women helps with fertility challenges, perinatal/postnatal concerns, menopause/peri-menopause, as well as other aging-related issues.

What if other people judge me for going to therapy?

Therapy is the ultimate form of self-care for women, and it is nothing to be ashamed of. Improving how you feel, managing overwhelm, and reducing stress and anxiety is a majorly smart move. Plus, more and more people (women in particular) are seeking the support of a therapist—and chances are many of your friends and family are also in therapy.

I worry I may be too busy to attend sessions consistently.

For change to happen quickly and for things to get better, we encourage clients to prioritize their self-care by attending therapy weekly. To make things easier, we provide both in-person and online counseling for women. This quick and convenient way of seeing your therapist is perfect for new moms, stay-at-home mothers, and women who are too busy to make it into the office.
